一、Teaching objects

1.Students learn and master the basic structure of the simple past tense and can apply it simply.

2. Learn and master the rules for changing verbs to the past tense

3. Be able to simply use the simple past tense to describe events that occurred in daily life scenes

二、Teaching difficulties

1.There are many sentence structures in the simple past tense, and students may get confused about their memory.

2. The rules for changing regular verbs may not be mastered proficiently, and the changes in the past tense of regular verbs are incorrect.

三、Student analysis

   The students being taught are in Grade seven. For students of this age, their vocabulary accumulation is relatively small and their grammar knowledge is weak. During the class, it is necessary to explain the grammar knowledge slowly and repeatedly to consolidate the students' memory. This class is related to daily life and can be explained in combination with real life, allowing students to discuss and promote the application of this grammar knowledge.四、Teaching steps

  (一)Lead-in

Show two pictures and guide students to describe the content of the pictures, then introduce the simple past tense.

(二) Presentation

     1.Based on two pictures, give examples of the structures of the simple past tense verbs and the verb "Be", and let the students observe the sentences to summarize the structures of the simple past tense verbs and the verb "Be".

2. After summarizing the structure of the simple past tense, we will then explain the rules for changing the past tense of meaningful verbs and Be verbs. After explaining the rules of meaningful verbs, we will conduct a small test on changing the past tense of verbs to consolidate students' memory of the rules and test whether they have mastered them.

3. Explain the time marker words in the simple past tense, and ask the students to make sentences in the simple past tense. Select three students to share.

(三)Practice

1.Put the words in order, Write the sentences using the correct tenses.

2.Complete the passage with the correct forms of the verbs in the box.

3.Pair work: Ask each other about the activities you did yesterday and what time you did them, then share it in the class.
